GENERALISED ANXIETY DISORDER (GAD)

Individuals with generalised anxiety disorder continually worry about things that might go wrong although there may be no awareness of what the particular concern is. These anxious feelings may be triggered from concerns about family members, health matters, work situation or money problems. Daily functioning can become increasingly difficult over time and sufferers may experience intense physical symptoms such as:

  • Trembling
  • Twitching
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Hot sweats
  • Headaches
  • Muscle tension
  • Dizziness
  • Lack of sex drive
  • Pounding heart
  • Stomach cramps
  • Fatigue

Mental symptoms of (GAD) may include:

  • Difficulty concentrating
  • Depression
  • Insomnia
  • Focusing on a negative outcome for each situation
