Weight Management – Slimming – Obesity

According to some researchers around 65 per cent of adults in the UK are overweight which has lead to an increase in obesity. The level of obesity among children and young people is also rising.  Being overweight can stop a person from getting the best out of life. It can also lead to health problems such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, depression, high blood pressure, infertility, stroke, arthritis, joint and back pain, stress, anxiety, gallstones, indigestion and certain cancers.

It has been reported that weight problems and obesity may soon overtake cigarette smoking as a serious health risk. Being overweight is usually caused by an unhealthy diet and a lack of proper exercise. However, there are other factors which contribute towards weight gain such as genetic and medical problems. Psychological and emotional problems frequently lead to weight gain and obesity.

Many people choose to spend their leisure time sitting in front of the TV or computer.
If you are serious about reducing your weight the first thing to understand is that there is no “quick fix”. That means you need to change your psychological and emotional attitude towards life and positively change your lifestyle. In other words, if you want to change yourself on the outside, you need to change your self on the inside first. By learning to understand your feelings, cravings or emotions that drive your current lifestyle you can begin to manage you weight more effectively.

Managing your weight does not need to be difficult. Ask yourself this question: why do I want to manage my weight? Your answer will often help you to understand what your current lifestyle and attitudes are stopping you from achieving.

Weight management often involves making changes at an emotional level.  Successful slimmers are patient individuals concerned about their progress. They continually work towards an understanding of self and personal/emotional attitudes towards life. This approach often increases the chances of lasting success and removes the need for constant, ineffective “yo-yo” dieting.

A lack of motivation is one of the main problems people face when managing their weight. Hypnotherapy can help you to develop a powerful, positive mind set helping you to reach your target weight.

Why do most people fail to loose weight?

  • They didn’t know what to do after they had finished their diet plan.
  • Their diet may have been too rigid to follow for so long.
  • They may have been reducing weight to please other people.
  • They may have been relying on will power alone to override inner negative attitudes.
  • They may have set themselves unrealistic goals
  • They may have underlying emotional issues driving their eating and lifestyle habits.
